Cllr Declan Sammon introduced the report. In response to the questions from committee members: · Correction noted on page 17, point 6.3: ‘work-steam’ to read ‘work-stream’. · Query raised on census figures for ‘bad’ and ‘very bad’ health with officers to provide further analysis. · Number of people Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) confirmed. · School Inspections have 100% compliance based on five schools. Prior comparator figure to be confirmed. · Successful initiatives undertaken in regards to Children Looked After but recognised numbers could fluctuate. · Stressed that children are the priority and not numbers. · Support still in place for Special Guardianship. · Correction noted on page 53: ‘Merthyr’ to read ‘Merthyr Tydfil’. · Percentage of municipal waste, recycled or composted to be verified around November. · Unlikely to meet recycling targets but new Waste Strategy aims to improve recycling rates. · Any Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) projects would need new infrastructure. · Asset Management System purchased with business case being developed to address maintenance backlog. · Commercial Team support for schools is still ongoing. · Narrative to be confirmed on page 97 whether certain parts of the Employment table should state ‘Below the Welsh Average’. Committee Members complimented officers on the report and the good work identified in various areas, with positive feedback on case studies.
