RESOLVED that Councillor Emlyn Schiavone (Carmarthen Town) be appointed as the Town and Community Councillor Representative on the Education Admissions Forum.
The Cabinet Member considered a report which provided information in respect of a nomination for a Town and Community Representative Member on the Carmarthenshire’s Education Admissions Forum. The School Organisation & Admissions Manager explained that following Community Councillor Mrs. Georgina Jones’ resignation, a letter had been sent to all Town & Community Councils seeking replacement Town & Community representatives to sit on Carmarthenshire’s Education Admission Forum. The Cabinet Member noted that one nomination had been received from County, Town & Community Councillor Emlyn Schiavone, who represents Carmarthen Town. It was reported that Legal advice had been sought which stated that there was no prohibition from County Councillors being appointed as a Member of the Education Admissions Forum as a Town and Community representative. However, for clarity, the capacity in which they are attending must be reflected in all Forum documentation and minutes and that any references to the individual should reflect they are a member of the forum in the capacity of a Town and Community Councillor and not as a County Councillor. RESOLVED that Councillor Emlyn Schiavone (Carmarthen Town) be appointed as the Town and Community Councillor Representative on the Education Admissions Forum.

The Cabinet Member considered applications received for Local Authority Governor vacancies within the county. Nominations had been invited from the Chairperson, Head teacher and Local Member(s) in the case of Primary Schools/ the member(s) who were governors in the case of Secondary Schools. It was noted that Local Authority Governors are appointed for 4 years, and where the vacancy has occurred as a result of an individual’s term of office coming to an end, this was noted in the details for that particular person if he/she was seeking appointment. The Principal School Governance Officer highlighted an error within the Details section the nomination for A. Williams - Pembrey Primary School. It should read that A. Williams was a ‘former’ member of the County Council Standards Committee. Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
Declarations are read from the minutes once they are published.
Lists the council's current councillors only. Co-opted members, officers and former councillors aren't shown.
