Decision as recorded
RESOLVED that the amended Direct Payments Policy be approved.
The Cabinet considered the Council’s Direct Payment policy which proposed revisions to reflect changes in circumstances. The scheme enabled eligible individuals to purchase the care and support required to meet their own well-being needs and therefore offered more choice, control, and flexibility to people who would traditionally rely on others to arrange their care and assistance. A review of the policy had commenced to reflect that the local authority had commenced its own in-house support scheme in 2021 and therefore no longer utilised Diverse Cymru to support the management of direct payments. Additional amendments were also recommended for approval in order to provide greater detail and clarity in respect of the eligibility, criteria and arrangements for the provision of direct payments, as detailed within the report. UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED that the amended Direct Payments Policy be approved.
The Chair advised that there were no items of urgent business.
UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED, pursuant to the Local Government Act 1972, as amended by the Local Government (Access to Information) (Variation) (Wales) Order 2007, that the public be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following items as the reports contained exempt information as defined in paragraph 14 of Part 4 of Schedule 12A to the Act.
Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
