The Committee considered the Planning Appeals Report which provided information relating to lodged planning appeals as at 7th June, 2024. In response to an observation raised that the number of outstanding appeals are increasing each time it is presented to the Committee, the Senior Development and Enforcement Manager explained that there are more planning applications being received and therefore more appeals are being determined as a result. It was noted that the backlog of appeals within the report had been lodged with Planning and Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW) to commence the appeal process. In light of this, disappointment was expressed in that potentially, the reason for the increase in the number of outstanding appeals reported lay with PEDW. The Senior Development and Enforcement Manager reiterated that more appeals were being received and explained that each case was determined on its own merits with some being more complex than others. RESOLVED that the report be noted.

Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
Declarations are read from the minutes once they are published.
