The Cabinet Member considered an application submitted under the Carmarthenshire Community Renewable Energy Grant (CREG) funded through the Local Growth Fund (LGF) for Wales and Egni Sir Gâr. The CREG sought to support community assets with energy efficiency measures and/or renewable energy projects to reduce carbon footprint and support sustainability. An overview of the fund’s eligibility criteria, finance, grant process and delivery model was provided to the Cabinet Member within the report. The Cabinet Member advised that he was satisfied that this project represented a strong investment in Carmarthenshire’s growing electric vehicle charging network and aligned closely with the Council’s climate change, decarbonisation and sustainable transport objectives. He noted that the scheme leverages external and match funding to deliver lasting environmental and community benefits whilst improving access to charging infrastructure at a key visitor destination. Approval of the grant will support the continued expansion of EV charging provision across the county and help accelerate the transition to cleaner, greener transport. The Cabinet Member was happy to approve the application.
