The Cabinet Member considered an application submitted under the Carmarthenshire Community Renewable Energy Grant (CREG) funded through the Local Growth Fund (LGF) for Wales and Egni Sir Gâr. The CREG sought to support community assets with energy efficiency measures and/or renewable energy projects to reduce carbon footprint and support sustainability. An overview of the fund’s eligibility criteria, finance, grant process and delivery model was provided to the Cabinet Member, as detailed within the report. The Cabinet Member thereupon considered the project application and costings submitted by Dryslwyn Community Shop Ltd to support the delivery of energy efficiency and low-carbon measures within the new SiopNEWydd facility. It was concluded that the project demonstrated strong strategic fit with the objectives of the Fund, had secured substantial investment from multiple funding sources, and would deliver lasting environmental, economic and community benefits. Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
