Motion on illegal activity on high streets carried
Council carried a composite motion (one combining several proposals) by 62 votes to none, with 1 abstention (Cllr Chowdhury). It asks the council to review and strengthen its enforcement powers, set up a cross-council enforcement task force, and work with landlords and traders. It calls on the Welsh Government to give more resources and require planning permission for vape shops, and calls on the UK Government to continue its crackdown. Cabinet must report back within 6 months. A Liberal Democrat amendment was lost by 21 for, 41 against and 1 abstention.
